Jack M. Rosoff Hebrew High School
innovative JewisH Learning for Teens
While retaining the name of our beloved Rabbi Emeritus, Jack M. Rosoff, we have created a new identity for our Hebrew High School.
ALEINU
Like the name of our lower school, SHMA, ALEINU is a well known prayer and also a call to action. At the end of every Service, we rise to proclaim:
Aleinu l'shabeyach ...
2020 -21 Aleinu Classes
In keeping with our Aleinu model, we will offer a different class each week rotating throughout the month. This slate and schedule is subject to change. If you have any comments, please make them known.
Jewish GOAT. No, not a class on Chad Gadya. GOAT as in 'Greatest Of All Time.' In this class, Rabbi Sagal will explore the greatest Jewish ideas in all of our history. Ideas that challenge the mind, raise your spirits, and uncover the Jewish spin on just about everything that makes us who we are.
Cooking 201. Chef Margo's "cooking show" will be 2 hours and the course will parallel our SHMA curriculum: Food of the Jewish Immigrants and Foods of Israel. Ingredients will be sent in advance and student will prepare the dishes while Margo demonstrates.
A Narrow Bridge: Jewish in the Pandemic 201. Moreh Mike will lead the class that continues what we began last year: exploring Jewish perspectives on life's challenges like the pandemic. Most important, this hour provides an opportunity for each student to express how they are coping with this challenging time.
Social Action 101. A class based on the T'ruah action webinars in which a presenter highlights a social justice issue and offers an action plan to do something, e.g., call your congressman, send letters to the newspaper, etc. Students will take action!
