IMA AND ME

Our Mommy and Me program is designed for children between the ages of 16 to 30 months.  The class is scheduled for one hour and fifteen minutes but usually lasts longer because everyone is having such a great time. Activities are designed for the hands and minds of young children as well as encompassing the Jewish traditions and holidays. For instance, our Passover celebration includes reading the story, singing the songs, cooking, making special art projects and having a mini-Seder.  Each day before we eat our snack, we say a prayer.

At this age it is important to allow for creativity and fine motor skills, so we always have crayons and markers available for the budding artist.  They learn by recreating the things that they see around them, so we have cars that they drive on trips and shopping baskets that go to the supermarket with their babies and puppies along for the ride. Our room is filled with gross motor equipment so that they always have an opportunity to climb and slide no matter what the weather may be outside. Of course, on nice days we visit our well-equipped playground.

Miss Helaine provides a warm and loving atmosphere that gives the children a feeling of security. She is also the teacher for the two-year-old children, which makes it easy for the transition into the next class.

For more information, contact the Congregation B’nai Israel Synagogue office Monday through Friday and ask for the Director of Gan Yeladim preschool.
