Our Congregation B’nai Israel choir brings an extra layer of beauty to our High Holy Day services. Our choir consists of about fifteen singers who bring the service to life with their voices. They particularly enjoy singing music in four-parts. A special favorite is the music of Solomoni di Rossi, a Jewish Italian Renaissance composer of psalm settings and other works.
Besides the High Holy Days, our choir sings on the occasional Sabbath and in a number of religious and other settings. Our annual Chanukah party, our Israeli Arts Showcase, Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day) and local retirement venues have in the past provided occasion for joyful song. And our observance of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) has been deepened with their singing. Congregation members who are interested in joining the choir should contact the Congregation office during work hours and ask to speak to the choir director.
